We crown a new champion tonight!

Join us at ComedySportz tonight for the Impress These Apes finale!  We’ll be crowning a new Least Pitiful Human.  Joining the Apes at the judge’s table will be Chad Briggs, the winner of Impress These Apes season 4!

It was a revue of reviews!

Life is like a cigarette. Smoke it to the butt.

Our contestants stepped up, opinions a’ swingin’, and delivered some incredible reviews for our Week #7 challenge.  All topics were covered!  The Guess Who, a little weekday sex… even a kid’s production of Oklahoma.  One of our contestants was even smacked in the back of the head with a folding chair by WWE wrestler Scotty Goldman!

All of the videos from Week #7’s show are now online!

Rob Anderson increased his death grip on first place, while the other contestants all bunched up behind him to make this a very close week.  If Rob does have a lock on the title, 2nd-8th place are completely up for grabs, as they’re separated by only FIVE POINTS!!!

But this is Impress These Apes, and we promise more twists and turns than Big Man Japan.  Nobody’s a lock for first place yet – there’s still one more crucial week of competition!

NEXT WEEK: The challenge is simple – IMPRESS THESE APES.  Our contestants will be showcasing the talent of their choice in one final bid for Impress These Apes glory.  This show will sell out!  We encourage you to buy your tickets in advance. Last season’s champ, Chad Briggs, will join the Apes at the judge’s table.  We hope you’ll join us too, and watch us crown a brand new Least Pitiful Human!

Holy Laugh Tracks!

Our audience was treated to four fantastic very special sitcom episodes last night.  Alisa and Otis performed a very special Perfect Strangers (DRUGS), complete with opening credits.  Chloe and Jamie treated us to a very special Family Matters (MENTAL RETARDATION), Clare and Rob gave us a very special Small Wonder (Unplanned Pregnancy), and Neil and Dyan finished the night with a spot-on Flintstones episode (ILLITERACY).  There were only four performances, but they packed a whole lotta punch (and a little da-doobity-wah-wah-wah).  You can watch all of the performances right here on impresstheseapes.com right now!

Our scores have shuffled around once again.  Rob’s hold on 1st place has become a bit more tenuous, with Otis creeping up the ladder.  And this week it’s Alisa sharing that 3rd place spot with Neil.

NEXT WEEK: Our contestants will be sharing their opinions.  It’s REVIEW week!  They’ll be visiting a restaurant, movie, store, play, or whaaaatever they want, and sharing their experience with us live on stage in the form of a review.  Joining the Apes at the table is food review contributor for WCIU’s morning show You & Me This Morning, Monte!

Week #7 is the week to make a strong play to move up in the rankings!  With a guest judge at the table, we expect there to be quite a bit of shuffling, all leading up to an exciting finale on July 26th!

Strokin’ indeed.

Chloe Ditzel is Strokin'

Well, I suppose you can say we got what we asked for.  Eight contestants each gave their rousing rendition of Clarence Carter’s Strokin’ in an Impress These Apes first (and last).  While the repetition was enough to send 6 audience members packing, there was much hilarity and booty shakin’… and we think that overall, everyone had a great time.

Chloe Ditzel made up some serious ground, scoring the only two 10’s of the evening, and Rob Anderson continued his torrid streak of high scores to further cement his spot atop the leaderboard.  Can he continue his good luck streak and stay in the Apes’ favor for the final 3 weeks?  Or will one of our bottom-dwellers launch themselves into a surprising upset?  You have to believe us when we tell you it is still absolutely anyone’s game!

VIDEOS FROM WEEK #5 ARE NOW POSTED!  If you can stomach 8 renditions of the same song, click away!

NEXT WEEK: A Very Special…

Our contestants are paired up for next week’s show!  Each pair has randomly drawn a sitcom and a very serious issue.  They’ll be presenting us with scenes from a very special episode of that sitcom that deals with the topic at hand.

Rob and Clare will be presenting a very special Small Wonder, dealing with unplanned pregnancy.  Otis and Alisa will be presenting a very special Perfect Strangers, dealing with drugs.  Chloe and Jamie will be presenting a very special Family Matters, dealing with mental retardation.  Dyan and Neil will be presenting a very special Flintstones, dealing with illiteracy.

It will be a very special Impress These Apes indeed, and we hope to see you there!

It was a birthday party of extraordinary magnitude.

7-year old Hannah had the time of her life!  Our eight contestants serenaded, danced, and terrified her.  She has enough memories from the night to give her seven more years of nightmares.

Videos from Week #4’s birthday performances are now online!

Next week – our contestants have each been given the karaoke track of a popular hit.  Their task is to re-write the lyrics and perform them for us live on stage!  There are two catches – #1 – they must keep the original chorus in tact.  #2 – they’ve each been assigned the Clarence Carter hit, Strokin’!

If you’re not familiar with that song yet, you will be by the end of next week’s show.

Thanks to everyone who’s been making it out to the live show!  We’ve had packed houses every week, and look forward to an exciting second half.

Beauty Pageant Host really gets Captain Apehab but good. (Impress These Apes - Season 5 - Week 3)

Prank Week was an absolute blast.

Prank Week has come and gone, and we can’t remember the last time we’ve laughed so hard. Our eight contestants displayed ridiculous amounts of courage and bravery, often throwing themselves head first into the most awkward social situations imaginable.

We implore you to watch every single video from Week #3.

The scores have been shuffled once again!  Rob sits atop the leaderboard, with Neil and Clare nipping at his heels.  And there’s a pack of rabid contestants behind them, just waiting for a slip-up so they can take the lead.

Up next week: Birthday party entertainment!  The contestants are tasked with creating a performance fit for a 7-going-on-8-year old.  To up the stakes, their performances must be family safe… because there will be a real live 7-year old joining the Apes at the judge’s table!

It will be a show to remember, and we hope to see you there!
