James Asmus grew up in Cleveland theater. He has been consistently acting for the last 17 years, appearing in theater, film, and television. While in college at Loyola University New Orleans, he formed a sketch and improv troupe headlining shows for the House of Blues, the New Orleans Comedy Festival, Oddville Comedy Fest, and many of the city's theaters. After moving to Chicago, James became a performer for iO with the Del Close Award-winning team The Washington Generals. He is a company member with the Annoyance Theater. Artistic Director, Mick Napier, produced James' musical Love Is Dead: A NecRomantic Musical Comedy. The show was recently remounted as part of the 2008 New York Fringe Festival. He has toured the country with Chicago's improvised musical theater Baby Wants Candy. James has won competitions as a stand-up and a playwright. In September 2008 his short story will be published in X-men: Manifest Destiny. He also performes with the Sketch Group Hey You Millionaires. In June the group was voted Best Sketch Group in Chicago by the Chicago Reader. |
