We Have a Winnah!

Impress These Apes Sept. 10, 2012

It was an amazing night, full of spectacle, ninjas, and mess (the last due to Clay, that little rule-breaker). It was anyone’s game, but in the end Joe Kwaczala maintained his lead and took home the $1000, the Grab Bag of Groovy Prizes, and the title of “Least Pitiful Human”. Many people don’t know that Joe auditioned eight times for previous seasons before being cast this year (he auditioned three times for Season Five, under three different names). We’re really glad he stuck with it and his win these season really proves the value of persistence. And of having a normal size head.

Joe was not the only one to go home with cash, as every contestant received something:

Congratulations and thanks to all of the contestants for an amazing season, and thanks to you, our audience, for cheering them on.

Finale

There’s only one week left in this most grueling of artistic competitions. Next Monday night, winners will become champions except those who don’t. Someone will walk away with $1000 in real American money. I suggested giving the prize in Hong Kong dollars and walking off with the spare $870, but the Apes wouldn’t hear it. C’est la vie.

Tickets are going fast, but remain just $10 (again, over my very reasonable suggestions). You can call the ComedySportz box office at 773-549-8080 or buy tickets online through TicketMaster. See you there!

I’m Sorry, I Can’t Hear You, I’ve Got a Banana in My Ear

If you were at the live show on Monday, you might have noticed that Monique’s review of the Bumpit sounded like you were standing right in front of a speaker at a sporting event where they keep asking if you’re ready for this and playing a pipe organ. I thought it was a bold and brilliant choice, but it turns out that was not her intent and you were actually meant to hear words. She’s posted a revised version on the cast blog.

As Seen on Stage(tm)

Right after the show last night, Squeak B Gone was taken off the market by the FDA. Something about unlabeled artificial sweeteners. Anyway, most of the products that the contestants reviewed are still on the market. For now.

What a DRAG!

Oh my goodness, darlings, did you hear what the Week 7 challenge is?! Drag Queen and Drag King! We’ve randomly assigned our amazing contestants a recording artist of the opposite gender, and we have asked them to perform a LIPSYNC of that artist next week. Here’s how they were paired:

Joanna–Axl Rose
Clay–Dolly Parton
Monique–Willie Nelson
Martin–Madonna
Meredith–Tom Waits
Joe–Beyonce
Liz–John Cougar Mellencamp
Wolfgang–Cher

I. CANNOT. WAIT. This is the challenge that makes coming to the year 2012 from the way distant future totally worth it. Or should I say….”turtley” worth it!
Until then, Lovies!
xoxox,
Your Best Friend April May

Your New Favorite Dance

The contestants all did very well with their Week 4 dance challenge. It’s just too bad that Bobby Ball Boy and I showed them all up with our amazing choreography to PSY’s Gangnam Style:

Of course, the contestants had to go solo and we got to work off of each other’s incredible energy. Next week the contestants are all allowed to bring a friend or two along as well, as they recreate classic scenes from movies. Season Two contestants had to face this same challenge and it’s going to be hard for our current crop to match the raw charm and charisma of those early contenders.

Text your favorite! Text APE to 76274!

Listen, Lovies, I am still giggling today after the dance performances last night! It was definitely my favorite show so far this season–so many talented contestants!

If you had a favorite last night, you can TEXT us to let us know! The winner will have a chance to draw from the special bonus point jar, and that contestant can have the chance to win bonus points. Or if that contestant is Monique, they can have chance to give or take away points from their fellow contestants.

Text APE to 76274! We’ll announce the winner at next week’s show!

Oh Honey, wasn’t last night’s show a RIOT?! All those costumes! I loved each and everyone one of them, and I picked up some new dance moves too.  I had a favorite performance last night, but did you? If so, text APE to 76274 to give your favorite performer of the night a chance to draw from the super amazing bonus crazy points a go-go bucket. It’s Turtley Awesome!

Critics’ Pick

We’re once again a Critics’ Pick in this week’s Time Out Chicago. They note, however, that we’re “Cheap” and I resent that implication. It takes at least two drinks before I’ll show you my balls.  You know, my collection of basketballs used in championships. Sweet orange history.
